Dutch sausage asian pork belly style
A quick and easy Asian-inspired dish where Dutch pork sausage is seared and simmered in a sweet and savory sauce with garlic, ginger, and broccoli stems, then served over rice.
What goes in
- 300 g Dutch pork sausage
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 100 ml water
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 broccoli stem, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 200 g cooked white rice, for serving
How to do it
- 01
Slice the sausage into round pieces.
- 02
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat and sear the sausage pieces until browned. Remove sausage and set aside, leaving oil in pan.
- 03
Pour water into the hot pan, then add crushed garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- 04
Return the sausage to the pan and toss to coat. Simmer until the sauce thickens and is absorbed.
- 05
Meanwhile, thinly slice the broccoli stem and briefly boil in water until tender-crisp. Drain.
- 06
Add the broccoli stem slices to the pan and toss with the sausage. Drizzle with sesame oil.
- 07
Serve over cooked white rice.
